Meir Ben-Shabbat

Israel’s former National Security Adviser and Chief of Staff for National Security. Ben-Shabbat was also the former head of the Southern Region in the General Security Service. He previously served in several positions in the Israeli Security Agency, including director of the Cyber Branch; director of the National Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Espionage, Research and Policy Branch; and director of the Southern District. He was involved in the creation of the Abraham Accords. He is currently a visiting senior research fellow at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS). In December 2020, he received the U.S. Department of Defense’s Medal for Distinguished Public Service.
